The SurfinBird IX67 is a new generation of combined router and firewall. It takes the previous award-winning Intertex firewalls to a new dimension. The new SurfinBird IX67 models have higher capacity, better functionality and more IP telephony features based on the SIP standard. The SurfinBird IX67 comes with the following options: VPN gateway, wireless accesspoint, telephony ports and SIP switch (for PBX like features).
VPN Server
You may purchase optional VPN termination software for the IX67. This supports IPSec, PPTP and L2TP with certificate handling. DES and 3DES are hard-ware accelerated. Support for AES encryption is also included. The VPN gateway allows users and other offices to connect to your LAN securely, via encrypted tunnels over the Internet.
Wireless access point
The SurfinBird IX67 FW AIR and IX67 FW AIR GW2 models are equipped with a wireless access point, that supports the IEEE 802.11b/g 54 Mbps wireless access standard.
Telephone ports
The SurfinBird IX67 FW GW2 and FW AIR GW2 include 2 FXS ports for connecting conventional telephones for use with SIP based IP Telephony, without the use of an extra adaptor box. These adds advanced functions such as call waiting, 3-way calling, call transfer and caller ID. Contrary to most other broadband routers, additional SIP telephones and soft PC clients can be connected to the LAN and used with IP telephony service. With the optional SIP Switch, your entire SIP based array of communication tools, including Instant Messaging clients and softphones, can be managed through the IX67.
Gateway to the Telephone Network (FXO):
The SurfinBird IX67 FW GW2 and FW AIR GW2 also include a port to the telephone network, working as a gateway for SIP based IP telephony and the old telephone network. Use for emergency calls, IP telephony back-up and integration of your old telephony. Receive calls on your home or office phone number on and make local phone calls from your laptop when traveling.
SIP Switch - Your local IP PBX
In addition to including a complete SIP server, the Internet Gate can also be equipped with the SIP Switch. It makes the Internet Gate your local PBX for soft SIP clients like Microsoft® Windows® Messenger and SIP telephones, integrating them with each other, the SIP world and the old telephone network via gateways.
The SIP Switch streamlines the usage of email-like SIP addresses used by soft SIP clients and numbers used by SIP phones. It routes common phone calls to PSTN gateways, does ENUM look up, can forward calls and can fork incoming calls to several phones or to voice mail. You can also get your own local numbers, dial 0 (or 9) to reach the outside world, and other functions familiar from old telephony networks. In addition you get a set of new features available only in an IP PBX, such as Presence, Instant Messaging, Voice, Video and Data Collaboration, all brought by the Sufinbird IX67 to the enterprise, and everyone’s desktop.
